Marks/Inscriptions: B. 477 Black, Robert ( 1820 -87) came out with his wife and family to Queensland in '63. In '65 the family came Across to Canty. He was a draper and he opened a diapers shop one door away from the corner of High St. and called th Criterion. Lich field, He rebuilt his shop in '83 . Robert Beattie joined in '93 and the firm became Black, Balter and Co. Black died in '87 and Beattie in June '97 in England. Strange finally - absorbed their business. Black was a gres t Supporter of the Presbyterian Church. He was a truste of St. Pauls Presby, Church , Ap. 81. married Rachel C. Gr race He and his wife were driving + in a buggy from Akaroa and when they were between German and Robinsons Bay the horse started Kicking. The buggy went over the edge and Mrs Black received injuries from which she died, This happened 16.11.72 : she was 48. a member of the Presby . Church The Black s lived in a big section which ran between Kilmore and galashiels St. East. He d. 20.2.87 aged 67. both buried Add Cem. sons. Greacen Joseph Robert William.
