Marks/Inscriptions: B. 1473 Bitchener. Alfred (184 was born at Cans field , Beds. 6a and came to Lylt. by the Lady Josephine in '75. He worked in the Waimate dist. for some years and then started contracting in which hmg his son John later joined. This grew into a bre business . He sold his contractio plant and bought a farm in the Hook dist. 8 pla which his son John carried on after him. He was a member of the Waimate Sch. Com in. and was chair man of the Waimate Co-op. Assoc. for Eleven years and was two years a member of the Waimate Boy. Coin. marr. a dau of T. welch of Stag den, Beds Eng. She d. just before he left. Eng. 1 son 1 dau.
