In '54 Bishop wrote to the Colonial See. complain that he had lost his oriana( fee of ( per letter which had been replaced by an annual salary of 1 . which he said, was insufficient for the services rendered + Bishop was evidently nt aware of the sacred ness of " the proper carats " He should have forwarded his complaint though the Postmas ter at Lylt. He was an Original member of the comm. of the Ch Ch mechanics Inst. when it was formed in '59. He was on the comm. formed to organise the first Canty Volunteer Rifle Corps. He became See. of the Mechan 1es Inst. in 60. Dr Gundry said in his journal "went to Bishop 's to get the whisky " This is the first mention of the name Bishop in connection with spirits.
