Marks/Inscriptions: D. 3 78. Benny, Henry (1851- was born in the parish of Colan St Colombo. Cornwall and was the youngest son of William Benny, farmer. He went first to the country school and then to the Bay High School at St. Colomb Major where he was apprenticed r thee years to the drapery trade. He wart to London and spent irs years there in various Adlai pery shops. In '74 he came out to Canty. with his brother William in the May Dusen. He found a job in Cashel House (where the D.1.C. Lowest ands) which was at that time dire ld by Wm. Stringer. After so mon this he changed over to Strange + Co and when his health gave way determined to get out into the country . He was plough man to Wm. Boag at Burnside for a year and then he and his brother went into part. and farmed at Whitecliffs and later at Rolleston. His brother died +in 191 and Henry carried on. In 1902 he bought 104 acces at Rolleston and did much contract ploughing round the district. marr. 3.8.77 Jane Deans Boyd only dau of Robt.
