In Ap. 67 he had the Railway Chop House Colombo St and another shop. T.B. Thompkins was his manager in the Railway Chop House. There was a bad fire which destroyed a row of shops including his Own. After the fire an enquiry was held as to the amount of goods Bell claimed had been destroyed - among st other items bang 44 cot. of Sugar. t seemed very unlikely that there was any such quantity on Bells premises. He finally ( lived at Sumner ner where he made and manta ned the well known Summoning, bathe there. The Sumner train tom mas was always repaired to just as n The Baths v He and his wife Elizabeth are ist receded as going to Lille River Oct. 64. His furst wife Elisab th d. at sea on board the Lady Jocelyn June 80 aged 60 married (2) 25.7.81 by Registrar at Albert Park , Melbourne to Sara widow of John newman Otway Cave of Melbourne. He d. at Sumner 22.10.90 aged 76 His son John Lie Ball d. 31.1.06 aged 62 bur. at Add Cem. bur. Addn. Cem. His father employed him on Lake Forsyth.
