Marks/Inscriptions: B. 261 Bean , Rev. Walter Stanley (1857-194 9) the eldest son of R.S. Bean of Kaiapoi was born at enfield near London and came out with his parents in the Zealandia , arriving in Sept. '8. The family settled at Kaiapoi. He was Educ. aft X's Coll. 70-72 and was Pros. Govt. Scholar in '68. and L1c. The. He was ordained deacon in '81 and priest in by Bishop Harper. He was for two years amate at St. Michaels , 5 years vicar of Sheffield, Springfield and Hororata and 4 years vicar of Kumara , Stafford and Waimea . In Mar 92 he was appointed to the parish of Addington where he remained till he retired from active duty. He was chaplain to the Canty. Engineer Corps for Ene years and chaplain to the Samar if an Home, Addington. He was pres. of the C.C.O.B. a in 1903; was appointed Canon of Ch Ch Cathedral in 1913 ; was Lt. Col Adlai Party Samoa 1914. When he retired from Addington he went to live in Beverly St. St. Albans, He was Pres. of the Royal Humane Soc. 1926 -40. Before W wen a Proc Gort Scholarship he attended the Church School at Kaiapoi. He was clerks in the Public Works Dept. for a year '74. He was at Leeston before he was ordai ed under Rev.
