Marks/Inscriptions: B. 255. Beamish, John Thomas (1842-1925) was born at the Acres , Co. Cork and arrived at N.Z. in and for years worked in railway construction . He left this work to go with the Moore Brothers to the Chat ham s Islands. He finally retired and settled at Rotherham , In 190 he had a butchers business there which Gor of Hawarden had formerly carried on. Hs retired from it in 1910. He was a churchwarden at Rotherham and a paton of all sports. He gave the land for the Rotherham, Hare and was the sole trustee of the building . Arthur Blakiston thinks he left the Chat hams when his brother married. He was evidently a relation of the Beam whos of the Chatham Is.
