Marks/Inscriptions: B. 228 Baumber Rev. William (852- 1932) was born 17.11.52 at Spilsbury Lice. the son of James Baumber, farmer and Mary Houlden and was educ. at Spl by Grammer Sch. He received his theological training at Dido bury Gran sas Sch College , Manchester , and started in active work as minister of the Methodist church in '76. In consequence of an appeal by the Rev. James Buller he fred himself for work in 2. and began his ministry at Lawrence . He travelled over much of N.Z. in his work, bul spent more tims at Ch Ch than a ing where else. In 1896 he was president of the Methodist Anfernee . In 1918 he retired from active work but he continued to make him self useful in the different organ is tons of the church. He rep. N.Z. in the Geral Methodist Conference in Aust. and in 1904 he rep. N.Z. at the British Math. Con. His term at the Durham S Meth. Church was long demer bred as most successful and prosperous. Amongst his own people he was known as Baumber the beloved. His library of NZ. literat ue and history was very Exclusive. marr. 30. 4 by Rev. Geo. J.
