Marks/Inscriptions: B. 215 Bate Edwin - Born in Mellor Derbyshire 1840. Married Mary Ann Sellars of Glossop Derby. Came to NZ. on the 'Ivanhoe' which arrived at Lyttleton on 13 June 1864. Settled Kaiapoi. Had seven children dau. Mary Emma b. 3 Aug 1867 sons: William Edwin Peter James John George Walter Died in 1882 aged 44. Edwin's brother Peter + sister Emma came to NZ in search of brother, possibly brought his dau. Sarah Ellen with him (Peter was Widower). He married Euphemia Davidson Rinaldi 6 June 1883 Had 3 sons Orthus Edward or Edwin b 22 Dec 1888 Lawrence Frank b 24 Oct 1894 Edward Ronald b 19 July 1903 His sister Emma marricool Abraham Ragg; Type of mark: Machine translation/Transcription; Notes: Machine translation by Mark Fryer
