Marks/Inscriptions: B. 141 S.O. Barker he went travelling with Chudleigh. (It will be noticed that the Barkes were a great travelling family). They went to Australia , across to Sam Francisco ; then across America to England and europe. He came back by the Cape of Good Hope and joined a man called shiers who was going up the East Coast. The two met at Delgado Bay. They travelled in land and were both very ill. Shiers died and sam w recovered sufficiently to nuke his way back to Delig oa Bay . He returned to England suffering hom fever and agee and returned to N.Z. He then rented a form from John Hayhurst and lived at Ky mnerslery (where his sister Mary died) There was a final divis in of Dr Barkes estate and the brothers met at Kori (Francis ; block of Ohapi) Arthur was absent on his homey moon . Mrs Hairdos testers claimed fire t choice and took the Halswell farm and part of the Carlton land. The rest then drew lots for who should have first pic. Dick won and o e selected the Cathedral Square section. The other brothers got parts of the Carlton - Papanui Road section.
