Marks/Inscriptions: 4 A. 283 Ashby. John Edward, ( 1820 -85) of Norfolk Lage , Guilds borough North ants. He aged 30. and his bo wife Elizabeth aged 26 , his dau. Mary aged 2, and his son John aged 1 ,arrived by the Sir Ges . Seymour in 1850. He lived in a small sold whare in Hagley Park for a year and then moe to Papanui Road where he bought part of R.S. 135 of 150 ac. belonging to Elizabeth Yorke an absentee . He called it Ashby Villa . It stared al what W now Lester Road and included Eliwony After horler years there he sold his land and moved to the Terrace at Leithfield. His Papanui land was advertised in LT. 20.7.70 for sale oillage of Ashby , Elven acres adjoining the property of R.H. Rhodes on age of Mt Ashley. It brought £668. Whether he originally owned Elmo d or only leased it, nt kwon. His son sand he ( ought 50 ac ; other family info. says he bought 100 ac. at Leithfield. He d. at Leith fired 12.4.85 aged (5 his wife d. 7.8.94 aged 74 these frames donut guile ag ice with h ont J.J. Thoms . Rem. LT. 17.4.72 : ( .
