Marks/Inscriptions: A.2.4.5 6 Archer, Nathaniel Barnard (1846-1928) was born in Cose , the son of Henry Archer, of Belch amt Walter, Essex . His father was a farmer. He landed at Lylt on 1.Jan '70 and next year went to Australia. but in 172 returned to N.Z. and settled South brooke. He learnt the craft of milling tion his brother Harry. A year later he went to ChCh and the following year removed to Oxford where he lived for thee years. He finally settled at Woodend and took over Ravens wood Mill which had been started by the Rev. John Raven who also had the waver rex. cut. He was a member of the Waikuku 5ch. Comm. and of the Domain Bd. marr. 4.3.78 at St Michaels by Rev. E.9 PEay Anni Elizabeth Aau of John Madden 3 sons 4 daus. , brine he d. 1928 d 81 82. of T Cem. (she d - aged s of Templeton. his dau Elsie Annie marr. 30.12.02 D. Geo . Macdonald 4 son of Tom mardon gd Waikuta His son Ladd lived at Cheviot and went into partnership with his brother in-law D.G.M. in stack dealing. Ladd was see of local affairs such as dog trials ti. in Cle. John Parlane says that Harry + Nathaniel were together in Southbrook mill for a time - also Moir and Shields.
