Marks/Inscriptions: A. 1582 Amyes, Charles (1839-95) was licensee of the Papanui Hotel in '79. He had a farm on the farew oed Road of 120 ac. which he sod at x 40 per ac. in Aul 78. He was one of the two br caterers in ChCh in the 80's. P. Burke was the other . They competed against t each other for such things as the C.J.C and A-1P. catering, Armys was the successful bu dere the Addington Yards catering 81-87. He had the M.1. Hotl in '90. Then he went farming and bought part of Colonel Tosswill 's farm High field at tarpon H. Kirwee His ferst wife Frances d. 1.7.92 aged 44 , buried +ap n. ha mar. again at Prebbleton 2.1.93 T.L.
