Marks/Inscriptions: A. 94 Allan , John (1846 -1925) was born in Dumbarton shire , Scotland and Educated in umber auld paish. He managed his fathers farm for five years be fore he and his wife came out in the Opara in '78. for two years he was farm manager for M Davis of Water ton . He then stared for himself at Geraldine on 6yo acres of teas child and 72 of Re hold. . and bought sold this farm in '97 , a farm of 1000 ac. out of Alen.ark stale in the Waikari flat. He reas app. a J.P. in '97. He was three fees a mem ver of the Geraldine Sch. comm . and after he m o veel to Was Kari was a member of the Waipara d Bd. and later of the same body when it became the Waipara Count Coun. He was a very successful fatter of Stock. He was a skilled ( n marr in d plough m Scotland and lhe judged at plein ding matches in N.Z. He was A member 1of the Canterbury Lend Board for 15 years and was a director of the N.Z. Farthest Co-op. Assoc. He was a member and President of the Haw arden A. + P. Assoc. He took a pen interest in the Caledonia Soc.
