Marks/Inscriptions: Ph. 64 Aitken Wm. (1810-90 was born at Bigar , Scotland and was brought up asa farmer. He was a grain mer dant in G las gow for a time and the ws moved to London derry where he spent over 30 years. In '74 he came to N.Z. with. his wife and son, his dau. having fore ceded him. Titsworth They settled at South of Ashburton and he and his son developed the farm. He offered for sale in May : 80 905 ac. freehold at Chertsey and 319 ac. leasehold, go0ll house, stabler, granary 3000 o pall concrete water tauh (very mess ary on the plaisir before the Water racis came) Mrs Aitken ded in May '89 2 months befo their golden wedding day. He began to fail trom the day of her death. He returned from Ch Ch Ly the aft. train and fell down dead outside Cook sons Staples r ist as his son was coming to meet him with the o wife Elated died 3.4.89 aged 78 Wm. he d. Ash. 15.1.90 aged 80. Dov mar.
