Marks/Inscriptions: F. 36 Adams , William Acton Blake way (1843 -1924) born at Wilden mane, Wore. the Eldest t son of Wr lam Adams who marr. a daughter of the Rev. Langley of Langley Dale, mar boron. she d. in ChCh 14.5.06 aged 9o . Their Sons were Wm. Actor Adams , Langley Adams , Percy Adams and Wm. Adams of Marlborough. she family came out in the ship Eden and arrived al Nelson in 1850. Win Adams ser. An English solicitor , took up two une on the Warran became leader of the separation mov t between Nelson and and marlborough and was first ( per intend ent of Marlborough He was M.H. R for Picton and replaced Traversing the firm of Travers and Kingdon. W m. Acton Blakeway Adams was educated at Nelson College and in 62 was admitted a canister and solicitor. He then left for England wher he studied law for two y cas . He returned to Nelson in '69 and joined his fathers form ce8' a junior partner. In 73 he was elected to the Nelson Prov. Coun. Nelson city. He successfully fought for the principle of the resp y of the executive to the Council . He took a leading part in the Nelson and les Coast Railway Lea gig and drew up the scheme of financing by land grante Which was later adapted bys for the payments to the Midland Railway Co, In '78 he bought f Ion the Hin N. Edwards his share in Tend ale Ken Afterwards buying the remaining share from John Ken. In 78 he entered Par lt.
