Marks/Inscriptions: A 32 Adams , Thomas (1817- 1899) came to l H. in the barque Clara in '51 and opened the first butchers hop in Akaroa on the site on which he afterwards built the Ai tern Hotel. He appeared in the electoral 0ll of '53 as storekeeper . In Oct. 53 he petitioned the Prov. Coun . against g e vous rss es and wrongs by the act of Ol. James Campbell , Commissioner f Crown Lands who served him with notice of ejection from his section which Camp bile Said was Crown property. Adams failed to set redress from the Coun. o2 the Colonial See. He was one of a comm. at Akaroa oa appointed to confer with the district engineer over the best way to cry out the works for 62, He was the licensee of the Criterion Holle Akaroa in '64. When E. Ginders died in Akaroa in '64 he was elected to jill his place in the Akaroa oa Rd. Be. and he was re- elected in '65. was chosen as vestryman at Akaroa marr 65. He stalled the Musical S oc. in Akaroa Ang. 66, and was lender. He was a member of the Akaroa Literary Soc, July 67. He was ce. and member of comm. of Akaroa Town Hall , Ang. . He was c p. Clerk to the Akaroa and Wainui Rd. Bd. Sept. 72 . He was elected to the Akaroa Borough Coun. and was Mayor Dec. 81. wife Ellen d. Akaroa 22.2.93 aged 70 defeating W.
