Hals is best known as being the founder of the Independent Order o f COddle owns ir Lyttelton. she Odd fellows first had a room in the Canter briny Hollo as a brach of Manchester Unity. In '55 they built Aa small hale in St Davids Street. Among the Early members were Thomas Kent. W .S. Moor house and (his bre Ward; J. L. Carrell was secular. when the new Odd fellows Hall was opened Co Lichfield Street in Ap. '72 he was present and was referred to by Rolleston as the father of Odd fellow ship in Canty. His portrait was pained in '75 bey T.S. Cous is . A monument was elected ver his Agave by the Odd fellows of Canty. Ang. '80. Mary Anne conducted a bogs school in Lylt. dau. Mary Arn. marr.
