Michael Davies
Production date
19 Nov 2011
One portrait colour digital photograph taken on 19 November 2011 showing the flyers in the window of the Lyttelton Information Centre on Oxford Street. The building was closed from 22 February 2011 until April 2013 due to the danger posed by the neighbouring building and then while repairs were scheduled and carried out. The flyers provided a snapshot of Lyttelton events scheduled for February and March 2011, many of which had to be cancelled.

Researcher comments/remarks
The closure of the Oxford Street premises of the Lyttelton Information Centre meant that the posters advertising local events were left in place for over a year; creating a snapshot of community life just prior to the February 2011 earthquakes. Many of the events advertised were cancelled as a result of the earthquakes. The Lyttelton Information Centre reopened in a portable building on London Street in June 2011, returning to their Oxford Street building in April 2013.
