One landscape colour digital photograph taken on 19 November 2011 showing the temporary premises of Lyttelton Bakery in a relocatable building on Norwich Quay. The building is located on the site of the Royal Hotel. Also visible in the photograph are (left to right up Canterbury Street) Lyttelton Service Station, Samo, Lyttelton Telephone Exchange, Freemans Dining Room, Lyttelton, Recreation Centre. To the right of the Bakery is the side of Shadbolt House.

With many of the commercial buildings in Lyttelton damaged or demolished, businesses facing an uncertain future had to become inventive in their efforts to keep trading. Both the Lyttelton Bakery and Lyttelton Sea Foods began operating from portable buildings on Norwich Quay, a block away from their pre-earthquake premises. These images of the portable buildings show them in their first location, they were subsequently moved to the eastern end of Norwich Quay to avoid being fenced off in the exclusion zone for the demolition of Shadbolt House (the neighbouring six storey building).
