Lyttelton's tallest building before its demolition was built in 1961 as the offices of the Lyttelton Harbour Board. At the time it was demolished the building was known as Shadbolt House and was owned by Independent Fisheries. The top floor of the building was home to Volcano Radio 88.5FM, the Lyttelton community radio station. Following the earthquakes the station resumed broadcasting until some of the equipment in Shadbolt House failed in July 2011. The building was demolished in October 2012.
