Researcher comments/remarks
Discussions have been held between Lyttelton Police, St John Ambulance and the Fire Service to consider a combined emergency response centre. Since the 2010-2011 earthquakes the Lyttelton branch of the Order of St John have run free first aid courses for the local community. In doing so, they are increasing local preparedness and interest in first aid with the hope some residents will undertake further training to become volunteer ambulance officers in order to help the residents of the Lyttelton harbour basin (and further afield).
