The pop-up theatre pictured was created for the Loons Circus Theatre Company's production of Macbeth. The Scottish play, originally to have been staged in The Lyttelton Working Mens' Club, was part of the 2011 Christchurch Arts Festival. However the damage to the building in the June 2011 earthquake meant it was unusable and a new venue was needed at short notice. The Project Lyttelton Earthquake Fund purchased the green canopy which provided shelter for the audience while the rubble covered sites of three demolished buildings on London Street formed the stage.
