Researcher comments/remarks
One of the broader consequences of the 2010-2011 Canterbury earthquakes has been the Ministry of Education’s Shaping Education – Future Direction Review of Schools in the Greater Christchurch Area. One of the recommendations adopted by the Minister of Education was the merger of Lyttelton Main School and Lyttelton West School. A new school was formed in May 2014. This school will operate from temporary facilities on the Lyttelton West School and former St Joseph’s School sites until new buildings are completed on the Lyttelton Main School site in July 2015.
