Object Detail
A large number of cars were damaged in the 2010- 2011 Canterbury earthquakes. Many parked cars were written off after being crushed by falling debris. The large quantities of bricks shed from the walls of unreinforced buildings and chimneys toppling from adjacent buildings were particularly damaging and unfortunately, in some cases in the central city during the 22 February 2011 earthquake, fatal. Vehicles also became stuck in liquefaction or in holes which opened up in roads where the land had subsided.
