One paper bookmark made for participants in the TEDxEQChCh event held on 21 May 2011, with the theme 'The Re-Imagination of Christchurch'; on one side are the words 'Kia Kaha' in green and the details for Print Max, who sponsored the bookmarks; on the other side are the words 'TEDxEQChCh'11 x= independently organized TED event'.
TEDx meetings are independently organised offshoots from the annual TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) lectures held in California, which aim to facilitate discussion of ‘ideas worth spreading’. The TEDxEQChCh held in 2011 was the first earthquake related TEDx, and it focussed on the future of post-quake Christchurch aiming to bring together leading local, national and global thinkers and doers to brainstorm ideas. The intention of the TEDxEQChCh earthquake lecture series was to explore the new opportunities for city planning and to excite people about possibilities for the reconstruction of Christchurch. The TEDxEQChCh bag, bookmark and programme held by Canterbury Museum were given as mementoes to participants in the event.
