Description
Three cloths for cleaning Japanese sword blades - 2 high quality thick Japanese papercloths used to soften and remove coarse and dusty elements for wiping the blade surface, and 1 flannel cloth. There are 2 reasons for the wiping function; one for preliminary removal of old oil and the other for removal of the powder. (If using flannel, the fabric must be washed, destarched in water, then dried.) Probably used by former Honorary Curator/Consultant, Trevor Simpson in the 1980s-90.
