Researcher comments/remarks
This music CD titled ‘Te Huaki Puanaki presents Ōtautahi Christchurch Rise Up’ symbolically records the changes, emotions and challenges faced by the people of Canterbury following the 2010-2011 earthquakes. The CD contains three songs. The first, ‘Otautahi- Christchurch- RISE UP!’ is a song to celebrate the human spirit. The second, ‘Angels of Mercy’ is a song of thanks to the many people - local, national and international - who helped out during the aftermath of the earthquakes. The final song, ‘Rūaumoko’ tells the story of the Maori god of earthquakes, as he laments the havoc he wreaked on Ōtautahi (Christchurch). The album was released on the first anniversary of the 4 September 2010 earthquake.
