The sombre tone of this book and DVD reflects the attitudes of the greater Christchurch community during the year 2011. A severe natural disaster had thrown the community into disarray and the tone of the book conveys the feeling of disbelief and shock about events that unfolded on 22 February 2011. Some chapters attempt to explain the geological forces behind the Christchurch earthquakes, but the conclusions drawn in this book reflect the uncertainty about the city's future that was experienced by many residents of Christchurch during 2011. The accompanying DVD includes footage taken ten minutes after the earthquake occurred as well as the documentary which aired at the Christchurch memorial service on 18 March 2011.
