Postcard: Christchurch 2010 Earthquake Series: Westende Jewellers
One landscape colour postcard depicting Westende Jewellers from a series of Christchurch images produced by the New Zealand Postcard Society following the 4 September 2010 earthquake.
This postcard is one of 15 released by The New Zealand Postcard Society (Inc.) that feature images of Christchurch after the 4 September 2010 earthquake. The description on the reverse of the postcard reads: "Westende Jewellers. Situated at 184 Manchester St on the corner of Worcester St, this business was established in 1965 and was well known as diamond ring specialists. The 2 storey building (A restaurant was situated upstairs) was severely damaged in the Quake. Because of its central city location near to television and radio stations, it became the iconic backdrop for television reports of the earthquake. The building was soon demolished with the business relocating to 169 Gloucester St."
