Researcher comments/remarks
The 4 September 2010 earthquake unsettled many residents of the Canterbury region. 'Band Together' was a concert that aimed to boost the morale of the area and was held on 23 October 2010. This programme provides the details of the event that was hosted by local personalities Jason Gunn and Simon Barnett. It was the largest free concert of any type to be held in New Zealand. Nine hours of music were played at Hagley Park in Christchurch by thirty-three New Zealand musical acts from a range of genres. The funds for the concert were raised by donations from New Zealand businesses and any surplus money was donated to the New Zealand Red Cross Canterbury Earthquake Appeal.
