Lunch Bag: Rechurch
One expandable oblong brown fabric bag produced by Christchurch church group Rechurch; black and green writing on the front and back. Used to deliver lunch to Student Volunteer Army clean up parties after the 4 September 2010 earthquake.
This reusable fabric bag from the church group Rechurch, Christchurch was used to deliver lunches to the student volunteers involved in the cleanup following the 4 September 2010 earthquake. The Student Volunteer Army (SVA) was responsible for contributing more than 75,000 hours of community support work during the aftermath of the Canterbury earthquakes. Much of this community support work was conducted in the hard-hit eastern suburbs with no power, water and limited food supplies. Lunches delivered in bags such as this enabled the volunteers to continue their valuable work and served as a great morale booster for both the volunteers and the residents they were helping.
