Researcher comments/remarks
Boon and Company, founded in 1875, were carriage and tram car builders located on Ferry Road in Christchurch. They produced trams for the Christchurch, Wanganui, Invercargill, Napier, Gisbourne and New Plymouth networks. In 1995 three Boon and Company trams were restored and formed part of the Christchurch Tram tourist attraction. This popular activity had to stop running following the 22 February 2011 earthquakes, but was set to reopen in late 2013.
