Description
An end piece from a box of dried vegetables. The wood is a multi laminate known as Venesta board. The end had originally been nailed to the rest of the box and appears to have had some type of metal edging.
The box end has the following information stencilled in black ink:
British Antarctic Expedition
S.Y. NIMROD (1907)
LYTTELTON. N.Z.
McDoddie Vegetables (Dry)
The remains of the nail heads are still in the edges of the box at relatively evenly spaced point around the perimeter.
The rear of the board has some pencil lines drawn on it.
