Researcher comments/remarks
This photograph features Lichfield Street in central Christchurch. The Dowsons Shoes store is located next to the Mason Struthers and Co Building which was the first three storey building to be built in Christchurch. The first stage of construction on the Mason Struthers building was completed in 1876 and it was laterdoubled in size along Colombo Street from the Lichfield Street corner. It was one of the most prominent buildings on Colombo Street until it was demolished in 2007.
