Researcher comments/remarks
This photograph depicts Whakatata House, located at the corner of Cashel Street and Montreal Street in central Christchurch. It was originally built as a private home in 1878 but was later purchased by the University of Canterbury. They retained the premises until the univeristy relocated to the Ilam campus between 1961 and 1974. The North Canterbury Hospital Board bought the house in the late 1970s for the Child Health Clinic. It is now the location for Child, Adolescent and Family Services in Christchurch.
