Camera: Folding

Maker
Eastman Kodak Company
Production date
Pre 1929
Description
A pocket style Eastman Kodak camera made in the early twentieth century. This model possibly dates from the mid-late 1920's. The camera is made to fold by a folding bellows system for the lens. The lens is supported by means of a trap door, which when released acts as the support for the lens. The camera has a small glass lens which has most of the important components built directly into it, i.e. shutter release, aperture setting, and adjustable focusing. The interior of the film cover, which can be separated from the main body of the camera, has the patent information stamped into it for four countries, U.S.A., Canada, Australia and Britain.

The interior of the trap door has a small metal plate fitted that proclaims:
NO. 1
Pocket Kodak
Series II
Made in Canada by
Canadian Kodak Co. Ltd
Toronto
21403

The lens has the following information recorded upon it:

Kodak Ball Bearing Shutter
Patented in U.S.A.
Jan. 18 1910 - Jan 7. 1915

The camera arrived in a yellow box with a black base. It would appear that the box is not original to the camera as the camera just fits the box.

The box proclaims the following information:

FOLDING "BROWNIE" (Red Lettering)
SIX - 20 (White Lettering)
a Kodak Camera (Black Lettering)

The two ends proclaim

FOLDING BROWNIE (Black Lettering)
SIX -20 (White Lettering)
Made in England by Kodak Ltd. London (Red Lettering)
The box has the price £6.68 written in blue pen on it.
