The sign was a birthday present made for me by the 1992 SB winter engineering team. In 1992 I was the Winter-over science tech and spent a lot of time at Arrival Heights' science lab. The summer radio operators nicknamed me Granto of Avery Heights due to my constant radio check-ins coming and going from the lab at Arrival Heights. The name stuck and the sign was actually mounted on the Heights road for the 2 winter and 3 summers I did down there (I have a photo of me standing under the sign if you would like it.) In summer of 93 I set a then record for longest continuous stay on the ice at SB (501 days). (still have newspaper clippings and head office congratulatory messages :- ).
