Brief Description
One architectural plan by Benjamin Mountfort showing the floor plan, north elevation and the east/ river frontage of the Supreme Court Buildings in Christchurch.
Production Role
Two proposed designs for the Christchurch Supreme Court were produced by Benjamin Mountfort during his partnership with Maxwell Bury. The first, seen here, was largely influenced by Bury, but the second set was produced in 1867 after Bury had departed for England the year before. Both these designs were set aside in favour of Alexander Lean’s design which was constructed in 1868 and demolished in 1980.
