Researcher comments/remarks
It is likely that this perspective drawing is an early conception of Benjamin Mountfort's stone design for St Peter’s Anglican Church, Upper Riccarton. Originally on the site was a wooden church, consecrated in 1858, the design of which is attributed to Isaac Luck, Mountfort's brother-in-law. The chancel of the new stone church was opened in 1876, though the building was not fully completed until 1929.
