Card with trophy says "This cup was won after riding from Kaikoura on the pennyfarthing bicycle that was ridden in the race, arriving one hour before the race was to begin. This cup was won by Mr C. Hopkins, father of Maurice, Anne, Keith, Beatrice and Florence, Lewis - Canterbury - grandfather of Robert and James Neill, David and William Wickens, Heather and Lorraine, Beth & Robert Murray."
