Description
Miss Beatrice Curlett and dog This is Erebus, a Samoyed born in Antarctica during the Nimrod expedition, gifted to Miss Curlett on the ship's return to Lyttelton in 1909. She was a member of the reception committee and later married Ernest Joyce (of Discovery, Nimrod and Ross Sea Party). The Nimrod dogs were purchased from the Traill family of Stewart Island and were bred from several left there by the Borchgrevink expedition.
