Mittens: Woollen
Maker
Sally Warren
Description
Trio of brown hand knitted woollen mittens. These mittens were knitted by Sally Warren the wife of Trans-Antarctic Expedition member Guyon Warren from wool unravelled from a jersey which was knitted by the Jolly Spinners of the Hutt Valley (Wellington) as part of the public support for the TAE. The jersey was very small and unusable but was quality wool so was remade into mittens. There was only enough wool to create three mittens, one is smaller and fits inside the others. The smaller mitten is patched with leather patches on the palm.
