A reminder of Byrd's triumphant return to civilization after having achieved the first flight over the Pole on 28 November 1929. A number of the members of the expedition signed the notepaper attached to the bottle, unfortunately these names are almost illegible now. The 'City of New York' and the 'Eleanor Bolling' had arrived back in Dunedin on 10 March 1930.
