Associated notes
ski pole basket used by Captain Scott, and later gifted to Sir Joseph Kinsey. The Canterbury Mountaineering Club recieved the ski pole basket from Kinsey's estate in the 1930s. it was apparently stored in their hut in Arthurs' Pass for many years, and was once in danger of being used as fuel for the fire, along with some other items of great historical importance, but where rescued by Andy Anderson. He looked after the ski pole basket for a number of years (-apparently, due to lack of proper storage facilities, the goodwill and large garages of the Club's members played a major part in housing collected items!). After his death, his widow ( Mrs Nansi Anderson) and the Canterbury Mountaineering Club gifted it to the Canterbury Museum, which houses the rest of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club's collection.
