Researcher comments/remarks
The ANZ Bank Chambers building in this photograph was located on the corner of High Street, Lichfield Street and Manchester Street in central Christchurch. The odd angle of the site created by the intersection of Lichfield and High Street dictated the flat-iron style of this building. The chambers were built in 1915 to match the same style as the neighbouring ANZ Bank building, built in 1905. The large copper dome on the top of the building collpased during the 22 February 2011 earthquake and the building was subsequently demolished.
