Researcher comments/remarks
This block of High Street between Tuam Street and Lichfield Street was one of the most complete sections of Victorian and Edwardian architecture in Christchurch. In the background is A J White’s department store which was built by the England Brothers in 1910-11. This building was listed by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) as requiring partial demolition following the 22 February 2011 earthquake. Many of the heritage buildings in this area required full demolition after the 2010-2011 Canterbury earthquakes.
