Model of Borchgrevink's vessel "Southern Cross" used to transport the expedition 1898-1899. Manufactured from memory by Mr Stirland a Stewart Island resident probably soon after the vessel called after collecting the party.

Given to the donor by Eileen Willa, who was curator at the museum on Stewart Island. According to the donor, the model was made by someone with the surname Stirland or Stirling for their grandson.: Eileen Willa: Pre 1976
