Large, browny grey of two shades and splashed with red rust colour. Decorations done with the fingers. Bottom of plate has seven loops done with four fingers. The fingers were held in a fairly constant direction and position and were made to meander across the surface thus forming the seven loops. The rim of the plate has straight lines radiating from central point and spaces between the lines are finger dobbed. The fingers were also made to circle between the loops and the rays, and also round edge of the rim. The plate has been combed with finger 'window' decoration in black slip with AA glaze. Made by Michael Cardew of Wenford Bridge, Cornwall, but at the Auckland studio of Peter Stitchbury, Feb 1968.
