Bronze: sculpture
Description
One gilded bronze figurine in the form of a Bodhisattva seated on a lotus throne. Gilding is flaking off in many places. Figure's head and body exhibit remains of blue and red pigmentation. Contains rolls of inscribed cloth.
From Inner Mongolia. Gifted by Alley to Canterbury Museum during a visit to New Zealand in 1932. In 1956, loaned to the Rewi Alley Chinese Art and Crafts Exhibition, held at the Provincial Council Chambers, Christchurch.
